What are the minimum required criteria for admission to the various programmes offered at RIMS?
- Graduation with a minimum of 50% in any discipline from any recognized Indian university. Overseas students should ensure that their university is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
- Candidates must have appeared in any of the All Indian Aptitude Tests in Management (CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA, KMAT, PGCET) and obtained a significant score (preferably above 75%)
Are my chances of getting in higher if I have work experience?
Yes. Post-education and relevant full-time work experience of one year or more will be given due weight during admission.
Do you accept GMAT scores?
Yes. A GMAT score of 500 or above would be an advantage in obtaining admission.
I do not have an undergraduate degree. Am I still eligible for admission?
NO.
How do I apply?

B. Register online using the Registration Form available on our website. An application form will be sent to you.

C. Fill up the application form and return to us with a demand draft payable at Bangalore in favour of “Ramaiah Institute of Management Studies" for Rupees 650/- only. Ensure that all fields in the form are filled. Incomplete forms are liable for rejection.
How many batches of admissions do you have? When is the right time to apply?
The major admissions for all programmes will be commencing in January/February of each year.
The right time to apply is before the due date that would be announced in the media and on our website.
Depending on demand, a tertiary intake may be considered in September/October for another batch planned to commence in January of the following year.
I have written my final exams and am awaiting results. Can I still apply?
YES, but candidates must submit proof of completion of graduation within the stipulated date as specified by RIMS.
I am in my final year/ semester and yet to write my exams. Can I still apply?
Yes. Please see answer to question 7.
What is your selection process?
A. RIMS Aptitude Test (this is a one hour test designed on the lines of GMAT. Exempted for students who have written GMAT and obtained a score of at least 500.
B. Group Discussion / Individual Presentation
C. Short essay writing
D. Short-listing of candidates on the basis of academic record, work experience if any, aptitude test score, RIMS test score, performance in GD / presentation and performance in essay writing
E. Personal Interview

I applied to a particular programme, but now I would like to change it. What do I do?
Please make up your mind before applying. Transfer from one programme to another is not encouraged.
When do I need to submit transcripts and other required documents? Do we need to submit the originals?
All transcripts, transfer certificate, migration certificate, and provisional degree certificate have to be submitted on the dates announced on our website (usually three days before the commencement of a programme.)
The original degree certificate has to be submitted on or before the date stipulated for the programme and in any case before applying for the post graduation certificate.
All original certificates will be returned after due verification and / or on completion of the programme as decided by the competent authority from time to time.
I studied under a university programme. I am yet to receive my qualifying graduation/post-graduation certificate from the university. Do you accept a provisional degree certificate offered by the college in which I studied?

What is the fee structure? Can I pay in instalments?
The fee structure for various programs and the instalment facility are available on our website.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Attractive scholarships are available to meritorious students. The scholarships would be in the form of scholarships / fee waivers based on performance.
What kind of financial assistance can I get from RIMS?
We have an arrangement with several banks for educational loans. Please contact our admissions office for details. SBI and BOB offer educational loans up to INR 4 LAKHS without any security.
Besides loans, students with a consistently high scholastic record and exceptional performance in the aptitude test/s are eligible to apply for merit scholarships.
What is your student intake for each programme?
The intake for each program is 120 students.
What is your typical student profile?
Graduate in any discipline with a consistent academic record and a good score in an all India aptitude test.

Which programme is the best for me?
A. PGPM is our flagship programme. It is an autonomous programme. The curriculum is contemporary and has been drawn with the help of expert practitioners. The curriculum is revised every year. The design and delivery are meant to reflect global best practices.
B. Perhaps the best course of action for prospective students at this point in time is to choose our autonomous PGPM along with the PGDM of AIMA. Our PGPM would provide students with a state-of-the-art-curriculum, practical and relevant delivery mechanism, continuous evaluation, and personality development leading to excellent placement opportunities. The PGDM of AIMA would facilitate students to take up further studies as and when they desire.
C. SBS – MBA provides an opportunity for students to be part of an international programme. The degree is awarded by SBS Swiss Business School, Switzerland. Opportunities are available for students to study one or more terms in Switzerland at an additional cost.
D. MBA of MYSORE UNIVERSITY (details will be announced shortly)
E. MBA of ANNAMALAI UNIVERSITY is a UGC recognized degree. Students desirous of pursuing further studies and / or of seeking a career in government / public sector would benefit from this programme.
F. MBA of MAHARSHI DAYANAND UNIVERSITY is a UGC recognized degree. Students desirous of pursuing further studies and / or seeking a career in government / public sector would benefit from the programme.
For students who are willing to work hard and pursue their career objectives relentlessly, the choice of the programme is not as important as the passion to be a part of a great institution.

What is your curriculum structure?
PGPM and SBS-MBA are delivered on a trimester mode. AU-MBA is delivered on an annual mode. MU – MBA is delivered on a semester mode. The PGDM of AIMA is delivered on a semester mode.
What are value added courses?
Besides major and minor specializations, certification courses are provided in a variety of domains. The objective is to provide opportunities for students to evolve as well-rounded managers. Besides management subjects and areas required by industry, instruction is provided in foreign and local languages. Yoga and meditation are offered to improve concentration.
What is the learning methodology at RIMS?
The focus is on Participant Centred Learning (PCL). A significant part of the process ownership has to be borne by the students. The success of a student at RIMS is determined by four factors – Physical Presence, Prior Preparation, Passionate Participation, and Perspective. Without being physically present, a student would lose track of what is happening. Preparation in line with the teaching plan is the key to understanding concepts. Participation makes the class lively, interesting and exciting. Perspective highlights the diversity in a classroom and facilitates peer learning.
What is your evaluation scheme?
For the PGPM, continuous evaluation based on quiz, surprise tests, case analysis, individual and group assignments and presentations, field work and reporting form the major part of evaluation. For programs offered in co-operation with external entities, the evaluation scheme prescribed by the University / Associate School / Co-operative body is followed. This would normally have an internal component and an external component.
Does the SBS programme offer any student exchanges?
Yes. Students have the option to study one trimester in Switzerland. Travel, accommodation, food, incidental expenses and the fee fixed by SBS Swiss Business School have to be borne by the students.
What is Dual – Specialization? Which programmes offer Dual – Specializations? What will be my typical workload if I choose to specialize in two areas?
In keeping with current trends in business education, RIMS offers dual specialization to its students. Usually, this takes the form of choosing a major concentration area to gain depth of understanding in a domain, and a minor concentration area to expand one’s horizons. The ultimate objective is to be well-rounded managers capable of taking up any challenges. The typical workload irrespective of single or dual specialization would be 12 hours per day including classroom interaction and self-study.
What is an industry – integrated programme?
The concept is to combine classroom study with practical experience. Classes are conducted early in the morning and on the weekends. After attending classes, students are expected to work in an organization for 4 – 6 hours every day.
How many companies can I intern in during the internship period?
Typically only one considering that the duration is just 6 – 8 weeks.
Can students collaborate with the faculty on research and consulting projects? Do you offer any course waivers in this regard?
Student collaboration in research and consulting is encouraged. Recognition would be in the form of (a) Certificate for work done (b) Honorarium in specific cases and (c) appropriate acknowledgment in any published work. Course waivers are discouraged.
Do I need to buy text – books and reference materials?
The institution provides each student with one set of prescribed text books. Additional reference resources are available in the Knowledge Centre.
Do I have access to a computer and internet connection at all times?
Each student is provided with a laptop. The campus is WI-FI enabled. Thus, students can access the internet at all times without jeopardizing the sanctity of classes.
Placements
Do you offer placement assistance?
We offer placement facilitation. We bring recruiters to the campus for recruiting students. Thus, while opportunities are guaranteed, the responsibility for converting the opportunities into offers rests squarely with the students.
Do you offer internship assistance? If so, what are the chances that I can get a paying job?
Yes. The trend is increasingly toward paid internships. The exact amount varies from one organization to another. Some organizations merely reimburse all the expenses. Others pay a fixed amount. Yet others pay a fixed amount and reimburse expenses. The choice of the organization, its policies, and the calibre of students all play a role in this.
When do the placements begin? Do all companies visit the campus?
The general slate of placement activity commences in October / November. 90% of companies take part in campus recruitment. 10% may carry out the process in their premises.
What kind of companies recruit from RIMS?

How was the placement scenario this year?
96% of students who wanted placement facilitation have received job offers. Most have started working.
Average salary for the batch of 2008 – 10: INR 450000/- per year.
Maximum salary: INR 720000/- per year.

Do you offer any career counselling and training programmes?
Yes. We have a dedicated team to offer career counselling and training programmes. We also utilize the services of practitioners to embellish this activity.

Breakfast and Lunch are provided at the Campus Cafeteria. Dinner is provided to students residing in hostels.
Uniform is mandatory and is supplied by the institution.
